Student Advisors
If you are a Novice or Advanced Trainer, you will be required to advise at least one day per year. It is suggested that you advise the conferences with a lot of the type of delegate you train (i.e. go to SM if you are a Novice Trainer, go to UCI if you are an Advanced Trainer). Although advising has priority for our delegate trainers, any MUN student in 11th or 12th grade can still apply to advise at conference sign ups. All student advisors must turn in a blue card on the day of conference sign ups. If you are a sophomore that wants to see what advising is like, you can apply to shadow our student advisors. You will have to send in a resume. Resumes are due at conference sign ups in addition to the blue card.
Student advising will be worth an added 50 points of your MUN grade. For trainers, this only applies once you fulfill your initial requirement of one advising day. Shadowing is voluntary and will not be worth any points for your grade.
Show up to the assigned day of the conference in an LHHS MUN t-shirt with a physical copy of the delegate matrix and an online copy of the delegate evaluation form on a chromebook or laptop. Student advisors are required to enter and take notes at least once in every committee. For novice committees, it is required that you enter and take notes at least twice. It is recommended that you enter and take notes in every committee once before lunch and once after lunch. Student advisors are also required to take photos of our award winners. In order to understand how to use the Delegate Evaluation Form, come on the scheduled MUN day or tutorial if you are a sophomore.
On the same day the delegates turn in their conference packets, turn in a physical copy of your delegate matrix and student advisor evaluation answering the following questions and criteria:
1. Full name
2. Name of the conference you attended with the year
3. What did you like about their conference and their accommodations for student advisors? Any suggestions for our conference?
4. What did you NOT like about their conference? What should we avoid at our conference, especially regarding advising accommodations?
5. Based on your observations, do you have any delegate training suggestions for our advanced/novice trainers?
6. Were the delegates encouraged to participate in committee? Why or why not?
7. Do you have any suggestions for advisor guidelines? What worked well and what did not?
If you are shadowing, fill out the google form that will be sent to you after the day you go to the conference. Don’t worry about turning in an evaluation. Contact your Director of Student Advisors
